Research Design and Dissertation in International Development. DV410 and MY410 together provide students a coordinated introduction to research design and a selection of research methods used in development research. The objective is to enable students to conduct independent research, to assess the methods used to generate evidence, and to critically assess the quality and validity of research.

At LSE, students take core courses in both the International Relations and the International History Departments, take a third course from the wide range of options offered by the two Departments, and complete the programme with a research dissertation on a relevant topic in the history of international affairs. Course assessment is by assessed coursework (in some courses) and by a final exam.
